The Police
Lynn Goldsmith
I first photographed The Police in 1976 and continued to photograph them for the next seven years. In those times there were no stylists, hair and make-up people and rarely an assistant to help on a shoot. It was about being with them and being ready to capture and to show the moments that all fans wanted to be part of. In the process, I considered them my friends. Being close is what helps to make great images, however it is not always the best place to be as a friend to three very different individuals. I often felt torn by the way they treated each other. The Police is an “inside” look into what I consider to be the unsettling paradox of Sting, Stewart, and Andy. |
